Our Mission Written In Stone was started after founder, Vince Palazzo watched CNN as the Ten Commandments were removed from the Alabama Courthouse in August of 2003. He knew that it was time for Christians to stop sitting back and watching the founding beliefs of our nation ripped away from our daily lives. From that moment until now, Written In Stone has been dedicated to rebuilding America's heritage. The main purpose of Written In Stone is to bring back the Ten Commandments into everyday life. With over 75% of the country supporting the public display of the Ten Commandments, we are empowering individuals, groups, businesses and even governments to take a stand to restore the heritage of this great nation. While many great organizations and ministries are taking a stand in many different areas, we are committed to be the lead voice in America on the Ten Commandments. The first goal of Written In Stone is awareness – to emphasize the absolute necessity of these God given principles in our society. Did you know that most young people today can name more brands of beer than God’s Commandments? Is this what we want for the future leaders of our country? Deuteronomy 6:6-9 states, “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” The second goal is personal commitment - to encourage individuals to write these words on their hearts. We understand that it is more than just the display of the Ten Commandments that is important. There is a very good reason that our forefathers looked to the Ten Commandments as the solid foundation in the establishment of our laws. David Barton states in his book, America: To Pray or Not to Pray, “Only religious principles can stop a crime before it occurs; only religion can deal with murder while it is still only a thought in the heart. Civil and criminal laws can do nothing until after the fact.” The third goal of Written In Stone is empowerment – to empower individuals to share the Ten Commandments with their “neighbors”. We recognize that no one, except Christ, is completely innocent from breaking God’s laws. Once one understands that the penalty of breaking any of God’s laws is death, then they also need to understand that God has already paid the price through the death of Jesus Christ. And it is in His resurrection that we can have life eternal. There are several ways that we work to accomplish these goals. One way is through our fundraisers using Written In Stone products to help get the Word out. We decided to begin by appealing to the youth of America by creating an aggressive look and image for the Ten Commandments (see full image here.) This will be applied to various items and used as a fund raising tool for non-profit groups (i.e. church youth groups, boy scouts, ball teams, etc). While benefiting the type of groups that serve the youth of America, this also helps accomplish our goal of reintroducing the Ten Commandments to the public. Another way is through our Every School, Every Courthouse campaign where we are moving forward based on overwhelming support for the public display of the Ten Commandments. With the passage of the "Ten Commandments Law in Kentucky in April, 2006, we are working with individuals, groups and businesses to place a custom print containing the Ten Commandments, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence in every school and courthouse in Kentucky. To find out how you can help achieve this goal, please click here. We are constantly seeking other creative ways to get the Ten Commandments into the public place. For example, we have several vehicles, including our “Scion from God”, and even tour buses that boldly display the Ten Commandments. In addition, we are working with businesses and churches and individuals to display the Ten Commandments with prints and/or yard signs. We also work with groups and other organizations at events, concerts, festivals, etc. to bring awareness to this important part of our heritage. From 1962 (when religion was separated from public schools) until 1992 violent crimes increased by nearly 700%. All one needs to do is turn on the news today to see that our nation is deteriorating at a very rapid pace. The neglect of teaching morals and values to our young people has brought our society to where it is today. Written In Stone is committed to bringing back the Ten Commandments into everyday life. Our goals of awareness, personal commitment and empowerment can only be achieved with the help of individuals like you.
